In brief: Abrupt weaning
I recommend breastfeeding for at least 18 months, which is the length of time for the infant's brain development.
Therefore weaning before the child is 18 months old is improper. However i believe that most of my colleagues recommend shorter duration of breastfeeding abrupt weaning of the infant is improper. If the mother wants to wean the baby off the breast should do this gradually

In brief: Not really
There are many ways that nursing mothers wean their children.
None are necessarily right or wrong.
