Can a brain MRI without contrast detect an aneurysm near the ear?

Possibly. They are mr sequences (protocols) that can be used to detect aneurysm without contrast injection. But small aneurysms can be missed. If the patient has a normal renal function, it is strongly recommended to inject contract, that will dramatically increase the resolution and the detection of small aneurysm.
