Type one is a cruel autoimmune phenomena in which your immune system attacks your pancreas until it's " dead" so to speak.
There is a research study called " trial net" where first degree relatives can have their blood screened for these antibodies, and there are studies ongoing now for early intervention therapies, there is some exciting progress here, but trial net is your best bet!
