In brief: Liver/muscle

Statin drugs usually are associted with muscle pains and possible muscle damage.
A CPK level of 10x upper limit of normal indicates the drug should be stopped. Liver damage is noted by a increase in the enzymes( alt and ast) . When the levels are greater than 3 x the upper limit of normal the statin should be stopped or decreased. The enzymes usually retun to lower levels. May switch to diff statin.
