In brief: Not Much
Only a very small amount of skin and adipose tissue of the very low abdominal wall is removed during mini tummy tuck surgery.
This is why most patients who have undergone pregnancy and/or significant weight gain/loss are not a good candidates for this procedure. Results tend to be minimal. Most patients are better candidates for full tummy tuck operations.

In brief: Skin and fat
A mini tummy tuck is ideal for smaller, lower abdominal bulges.
The excess skin and fat in the area are removed and the lower abdominal muscles are tightened. More information is available here: http://www.Drmele.Com/mini-tummy-tuck.Html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">mini tummy tuck is ideal for smaller, lower abdominal bulges.

In brief: Lower belly pooch
There are at least 10 different types of tummy tucks (witch hazel) and the procedure you undergo will have great impact on the extents surgery as well as the recovery.
Please see this link for a desription of the four most popular techniques: http://www.Youtube.Com/watch?V=djmer5b5bx4&feature=youtube_gdata_player in the picture the difference in the amount of skin removed with full vs mini is compared.

In brief: Less skin and fat
The difference between a standard and a mini tummy tuck is that your belly button gets a new opening in standard tummy tuck.
Also your belly muscles (aka fascia) only gets tightened below the belly button in a mini procedure. In my experience, far fewer women are good candidates for a mini tuck. Your surgeon can tell you which would give you the best outcome.

In brief: Lower tummy skin
A mini tummy tuck differs from a full tummy tuck ("abdominoplasty") in that the separated muscles ("diastasis") are not repaired as high up, there is not a scar around the belly button, less skin is removed and the length of the scar is not as long.
Both require a similar recovery (6 weeks) for full healing of the muscle repair.

In brief: Don't get hung up...
On the word "mini!'' mini procedures often (but not always) have mini results! stretch marks are removed in any abdominoplasty to the extent that the skin with stretch marks can be removed.
So, in a standard abdominoplasty, the skin from the incision to the belly button can usually all be removed. If you have a mini tummy tuck, less skin will be removed, so incomplete removal of striae may occur.
