My son just had cleft palate repair done and I wanted to know how long until I can use a sippy cup?

In brief: Ask his surgeon

Many speech/language therapists and developmental/behavioral pediatricians ( including me) advise against sippy cup use for children with speech/language delays because they keep the tongue forward and promote sucking.
A " commuter cup" with a small ledge or a soft plastic cup with a space cut out for baby's nose promotes drinking with lip closure, important for bilabial sounds like " b" and "p.".
