Difference between benefits and side effects of cymbalta (duloxetine) and zoloft?

SNRI vs SSRI. Cymbalta (duloxetine) increases serotonin and norepinephrine levels, zoloft increases serotonin levels only. Cymbala may help chronic pain as well as depression. Both are good antidepressants and have similar side effect profiles. Keep in mind there is no 1antidepressant that is effective for everyone. It may take several trials to find the right one for you or you may be lucky and respond to the 1st one.

Would a taper from 60 mg of cymbalta (duloxetine) to Zoloft be difficult?

Possibly. It could be difficult because stopping Cymbalta (duloxetine) can lead to the withdrawal syndrome that some patients experience. It is accompanied by severe migraine headaches and electric current sensations over the the top of the head and the neck and just because sertraline is being started does not necessarily prevent it. Talk to your doctor for more details regarding the transition to zoloft! Read more...

Can I take Cymbalta (duloxetine) 30mg and 25mg Zoloft both together because Cymbalta (duloxetine) good for anxiety and Zoloft help me for deeprtion?

Don't know why. you would want to do that. Cymbalta (duloxetine) can help with both anxiety & depression. Zoloft can also treat both anxiety & depression. Combining them could increase risk for serotoninergic syndrome. See you are also on ativan and risperidal. Please take only as directed by your physician/ psychiatrist. Read more...

Tody was my last day of cymbalta (duloxetine) replace it in Zoloft senc 11day but to day I could not sleep I took ativan and trazadon but I steel can't sleep?

Don't understand... You don't say how much zoloft (sertraline) and when you are taking it--usually we would cross-taper--start someone on the zoloft (sertraline) and gradually be moving to a therapeutic dose and giving it some time as we move down on the cymbalta(in your case )--how much trazodone did you take, does it normally work for you? It typically takes time to get into one's system and begin to make one sleepy. Talk to your dr asap. Read more...

I m in Zoloft 50mg and cymbalta (duloxetine) 30mg and trazadon 25mg I stop cymbalta (duloxetine) and I take trazadon 50mg but I could not sleep what could bi the reason?

Not sure. Maybe because you thought the Cymbalta (duloxetine) helped with sleep. It is not a sleeping drug. It is for moods. Maybe it is time to have your trazadone increased, as that medicine is often used for sleeping and you are on a low dose. Fall to your prescribing doctor and don't worry! Read more...

I switch from cymbalta (duloxetine) 90mg to Zoloft 50mg by tapering cymbalta (duloxetine) but after 10 dayes I finish my last 30 mg cymbalta (duloxetine) but I can't sleep even with trazadon?

May take longer. . Zoloft and Cymbalta (duloxetine) are actually very different from each other. Cymbalta (duloxetine) is very potent and works on two different receptors (serotonin ; norepinephrine ) and many people take longer to get off of it. Zoloft works mostly on one (receptor) and 50 mg is a low dose. Talk to your doctor about this. Read more...

Instead pick one of the two and maximize it- preferably the ssri. Cymbalta (duloxetine) ups norepi which fuels anxiety. C ur doc asap plz. Read more...
As long as your. doctor has warned you about the rare possible effects of high serotonin levels, due to similar effects of the medications on your body's serotonin levels it isn't unreasonable. Use with caution. Risperidal, Cymbalta (duloxetine) and Zoloft can interact with each other and on occasion can cause a form of toxicity called the Serotonin Syndrome. These medications elevate serotonin, a neurotransmitter, that enables one neuron(nerve cell) to communicate with another. When mixed together they can cause the serotonin level to go too high. Valid concern. You may very well have a valid concern taking these 2 drugs together due to the serotonin syndrome. It is not necessarily very common....On the other hand it's not rare either so your trepidation is understandable. I would encourage to speak with the doctor and just explain that you would like to know if another combination of medications could be used to treat your condition? Read more...
Tell your dr!! Normally there is no reason to take both Cymbalta (duloxetine) and zoloft; the effect on serotonin is duplicated. The only reason i would have someone on both would be if we were making a switch and someone started to feel so much better when one med was added to the other to start a switch and did not feel as good as we lowered the original drug. But you have to let your dr know if you don't feel ok on this! Read more...
