My mom is 92. She recently has a rash in her back. It looks like shingle. What she needs to do if she is not able to see the dermatologist .?

In brief: See her primary

Shingles is something that family medicine and internal medicine doctors see often and are comfortable treating.
If you can't get in to see your primary, i'd have her taken to an extended hours or urgent care clinic. If shingles is treated with medicine early on in it's course (<72 hours), then that helps to prevent complications and lingering pain from the virus.

She needs to take an oral antiviral such as Valtrex (valacyclovir) or Famvir or Acyclovir for at least 2 weeks or until the shingles has resolved.
