In brief: See below

A sestamibi stress test is used to detect decreases in blood to the heart muscle during exercise or chemical "stress.
" such decreases in flow may indicate partial or complete blockage of one or more of the coronary aeries that supply blood to the heart muscle.

In brief: Nuclear stress test

Sestamibi is a radioisotope that we use to image the blood flow into the heart.
The test has a stress and a resting phase. For the stress phase the patient is exercised either treadmill or bicycle usually and at peak exercise the sestamibi is given and later imaging takes place. This is repeated another day at rest. The study can also use some drugs instead of exercise to get similar pictures.
