In brief: God made food

It is that simple.
If the food had not been here when we arrived on earth, we could not have survived as a species. All the "man made" food like donuts and etc etc are all full of empty calories and it is to be compared with a choked engine in a car. Too much gas/inadequate spark plug------result, loss of horsepower.The body/brain needs the right fuel in the same way.

A healthy diet is fine for all new moms.
Only rarely are babies more gassy if mother eats gas-forming foods like cabbage or broccoli. Simply enjoy what you would normally eat and try to focus on eating plenty of fruits and vegetables and drinking plenty of non-caffeinated drinks to help with breastmilk production.
