What does it mean if your plasma glucose levels are only high on a fasting blood test?

Unclear question. Did you have a glucose tolerance test and only the fasting glucose was high? How high was it? Fasting plasma glucose is 100-125 it is pre-diabetes and 126 or higher, if noted on two occasions is diagnostic of diabetes.

My liver enzymes were high on my last blood test and my doctor could not test my blood glucose levels. What should I do? I went to the doctor's because I had been deferred from a plasma donation center and they needed doctor's consent before letting me do

Basic . Basic rules for donors are established by the U.S. Food and drug administration (fda). Some donor centers may impose additional requirements. You must be in good health and you must provide information about your health. Your blood pressure, heart rate and temperature are checked. Additionally your blood will be checked for anemia. If you are not in good health, such as liver test abnormalities than you can be rejected as a donor. Do not know what the doctor found on your evaluation, nor do we know the conversation you and the doctor had or your past medical history. I recommend that if you discuss this with the doctor or his clinic staff. He may not be able to sign you off as being sufficiently healthy to donate plasma. Should get clarification from him or her. Hi, I recently got a blood test done and it says I have a low mcv value, does it mean I have thalassemia? Also I have high blood glucose levels.

Incomplete info. All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, it would have helped to have all the results including MCV value. Also need Hb level, and tests for iron. To make a diagnosis of thalassemia, would need Hb electrophoresis too.
