In brief: When all are ready
Any person who takes a stimulant will focus better. If a family has tried environmental and structural interventions and identified that no other changes in diet, nutrition, or support are beneficial, it is reasonable to do a med trial, or even as a first choice if adequate diagnosis suggests that meds might be helpful-if that is the famioy preference.
