In brief: Lymph nodes
Lymph nodes are the way colon cancer cells usually escape the colon.
It can grow through the colon into the surroundings. Finally it can move from lymph nodes into the blood stream that flows to the liver. When the colon is examined, and if lymph nodes are involved, chemotherapy is recommended.

In brief: Different ways
It spreads via lymphatic organs ( lymph glands) in majority cases ; but also through blood ( hematologically) and sometimes in certain location also can spread through direct invasion to the adjacent organ.
