if you are genetically predisposed to Crohn's disease, then intestinal microbes may be a trigger in activating the disease. Leaky gut does not 'cause' Crohn's disease but patients who have Crohn's disease nearly all have some degree of intestinal hyper-permeability (leaky gut)
