In brief: They can be removed

Internal hemorrhoids often cause "blood in stool" but typically no pain.
When bleeding is excessive, removal by banding, photocoagulation using argon laser etc..External ones can be quite painful if clotted, which can be removed--hemorrhoidectomy--not fun. Best is to prevent from getting them: regular use of fibers, fluid, keep active etc...If u have trouble, consult your doc. Good luck.

In brief: Surgical removal

Surgical removal is the best way to remove hemorrhoids.
But, even after a perfect operation, new hemorrhoids can develop in the future. A combined approach including surgery and dietary changes is the best. Basically, you have to adjust your diet so that you are not straining to pass bowel movements, see your doctor for suggestions.
