It's complicated.
In some ways, Thailand is more accepting of trans* gender persons than other countries, but trans* persons are still often stigmatized. What's more, trans-female identified persons are accepted but trans-male identified persons are rarely spoken of. Gblt awareness and acceptance is growing rapidly in the us.
The last election demonstrated that. Three states approved by popular vote gay marriage. That said....Acceptance depends upon where you would choose to live. Parts of the country (generally the more rural and the more conservative) glbt people are not as accepted. The larger cities would have a more glbt people and support networks.
