In brief: Trigeminal neuralgia
Trigeminal neuralgia is a quite painful disease and can be treated with medications and also surgery so best to find out the options early rather than later when the disease can be quite severe

Pain Management
In brief: ASAP
When a demonstrable structural lesion such as a tumor (e.
g., meningioma), vascular malformation or demyelinating disease (multiple sclerosis) has been identified, TN is classified as symptomatic. See orofacial pain specialist or neurologist to rule out secondary brain pathology.

Neurology
In brief: If in crisis
When your pain medications are not working and the pain is so severe that you can't function: can't eat, talk, think, and all you can do is lay in bed.
The problem is that many excellent, well experienced mds in the er do not treat a lot of tn. There are several emergency medical treatments that will, at least temporarily, relieve the crisis, giving more long term treatments a chance to work.

In brief: No emergency
Trigeminal neuralgia, pain and dysfunction in the trigeminal nerve or nerves.
There is no emergency to pain. Therefore, let your pain be your guide and seek help from the neurologist, neurosurgeon or your family md.
