In brief: Other measures too

Diamox (acetazolamide) is great to speed acclimatization but other prevention : climb high, sleep low.
1) at elevations above 3, 000 meters, your sleeping elevation should not increase more than 300-500 meters /night 2) every 1000 meters-stay put a second night, don't push higher. 3) push fluids and easy favorite foods.4)new research: Ibuprofen helps 20-30%. 600 mg 4 times a day with fluid & snack. Works fast too.
