That's what insurance is supposed to be for - to spread risk among a large group of people so that it's affordable for everyone. Most people can't afford the out of pocket costs for serious medical care - insurance helps out with that. The same thing goes for children.

Lets not forget Well Care aspects...check ups and vaccinations to prevent diseases- these are not inexpensive...who and how will the physicians would be compensated without health insurances?
