In brief: It depends
It depends on the degree of blockage and the symptoms.
If the blockage of the coronary artery is >70% and the ischemia is reversible and the patient is symptomatic, revascularization (angioplasty/stent or surgery) is usually recommended, however there are patients have contraindications for intervention and they might be treated only by medications. Treatment is highly individualized.

In brief: Diet,Meds, stents
Proper diet and tolerable exercise, medications such as aspirin, clopidogrel and statins, and finally if all else fails, and the person is symptomatic, stents or bypass surgery.
I would not undergo stenting unless i had symptoms of chest pain or exertional shortness of breath. Far too many stents are being deployed without the right indications these days.
