In brief: Wash, treat, cover

Wash cuts and scrapes with tap water and a liquid soap.
Dry the area and apply an antibiotic ointment such as Bacitracin or bacitracin/polymyxin. Cover with a band-aid. Continue this regimen 1-3 times/day until the wound is healing well, usually 1-2 days more minor cuts and 3-5 days for more significant injuries. Note than rubbing alcohol & hydrogen peroxide often prevent adequate wound healing.
