Is congestive heart failure caused by a virus?

Possibly. A viral infection of the heart is referred to as myocarditis. If damage to the heart is severe, this can result in congestive heart failure. Among all adult patients presenting with congestive heart failure, myocarditis is not a common cause.

Can a child have congestive heart failure and then have a heart attack?

Not same as adult. There are rare illnesses like kawasaki disease that can produce coronary aneurysms & a heart attack in a kid.For most that would go into heart failure, it would be from a congenital heart defect or myocarditis.
