Could pain from acid reflux be confused with heart pain?

Sure. The pain is frequently very similar. Many patients make the mistake of assuming chest pain is gastrointestinal with serious complications. Heart pain can be burning, associated with belching, and even at times related to eating, so do not assume your pain is gastrointestinal. Get it checked out. I remember a cardiologist who had "heartburn" and assumed it was GI when in reality it was a heart pain.
