In brief: DBS

With any surgery there are risks.
Infection, bleeding, stroke among them. There are also risks with anesthesia and i would inquire from both your surgeon and anesthesiologist.

In brief: Yes

Deep brain stimulation is used regularly for some cases of parkinsons, tremor, and movement disorders.
Some of these applications are fda approved while others are not specifically approved but are well accepted and covered by insurance companies. Applications for behavioral disorders, obesity, memory, etc, are experimental. Risks include hemorrhage, infection, as well as misplaced leads.

In brief: Possibly

Dbs holds promise as a treatment for parkinson's disease, depression, and ocd.
It is still listed as an experimental treatment by the nimh. Possible side effects include: bleeding in the brain or stroke, infection, disorientation or confusion, unwanted mood changes, movement disorders, lightheadedness, and trouble sleeping. It's experimental so other as yet unidentified side effects may occur.
