In brief: Aphasia
There is an enormous literature out there on aphasia which was originally described in the 1860s.
The origin of aphasia and the brain location where it occurs is now well described. It most commonly occurs as a result of trauma or a stroke or a bleed in the brain. Research in treating these issues still has a long way to go in achieving any sort of brain regeneration.
