I've got a headache, sore throat, runny nose&cough and breastfeeding is there any over-the-counter medicine that is safe to take & which aren't.?
Breast feeding cold. For the headache, tylenol (acetaminophen) is perfectly safe to take. For the runny nose you can safely use either brompheniramine (an antihistamine) or an over-the-counter nasal spray like afrin or neosynephrine. The only caution with the nose sprays is not to use them for more than 3 days.
I have been fatigued, cough, (using proventil (albuterol) and ventolin) chest heaviness sore throat, runny nose, headache, for 5 weeks now. No fever. Now what?
See your doctor. 5 weeks is too long. You need a work up. See a doctor.
Viral Infection. A viral infection usually doesn't last that long but cough and the other symptoms could last for a while. If you have these symptoms at the same time each year, it could be 'seasonal allergies' too. Continue the symptomatic treatment. Get checked by your doctor for any allergies (like to pollen, dust mites, pets) etc. Aviod the triggers if you test positive for that.
Dr. Can check throat. New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). A couple days of throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) can decrease throat pain.
I have an sore throat and a bad cough for about 4 days now. Before this I had quite a runny nose and headaches for 2 weeks. What does it sound like?
Likely a virus or 2. it's unlikely these were the same illness. Both illness sound like viral infections. If you develop fever or begin to feel worse see your doctor for an assessment. All the best protect others and if you qualify, make sure you are immunized for flu.
