My teen will stay up till 2, 3. 4 no matter what time zone. Then I miss seeing him the next day. Why is he in this self-destructive cycle?

In brief: Set Boundaries

Yes, most teenagers "think they are grown" at this point, however they still need parental boundaries especially for bedtime as their bodies and brains are still developing i electronic late night use with texting, facebook friends, and messaging are usually the "prefered late night" teen activities that intefere with sleep.
Have a md make sure the teen is not suffering from depression.
