What can I eat when breastfeeding that is healthy and will provide the extra calories?

Extra calories. If you are like most U.S. Women, you have some extra pregancy weight to lose; if you eat healthy--but not extra food for nursing you will benefit with a weight loss and still provide excellent nutrition for your baby. It is true that if your nutrition is not adequate and you are underweight---you will need to consume about 300 extra calories a day; but that is not true if you eat healthfully.
