In brief: Swelling, heat

Heat swelling, change in color are signs of a skin infection.
If this on finger it need attention including oral antibiotics and possible incision and drainage. A deep infection can spread and do damage to tendons. Early treatment is best.

In addition to visible signs of inflammation such as warmth redness, swelling ,signs also include painful and restricted movement or disordered sensation (numbness, tingling).
