In brief: Comprehension

Ld people have varying degrees of difficulty to comprehend or process information.
Sometimes the input is visual, sometimes it's verbal, depending on the disability. Sometimes it's the outputs that are inefficient, as in an expressive language problem. This makes learning very trying. Accommodations really help these learners

In brief: "struggle"

Any child or teen who is struggling needs help of some kind.
It may be motivational, tutorial, medication, counsel, a stable/supportive fam environment, or whatever. The criteria of learning disabilities vary. The key is to determine what type of help is needed, and then provide it. Some have cognitive limits that can be sorted out thru prof testing, but they can still improve performance w/ help.
