Pathology
In brief: Visual & endocrine
Any tumor of the pituitary may affect the optic nerve and produces visual disturbances.
The endocrine symptoms depend on the cell type involved and if it makes a hormone. If the tumor does not make hormones it causes deficiency of thyroid, adrenal and gonadal hormones. Excess production of hormone may cause hyperthyroidism and cushing syndrome etc.
