Capsulatum are asymptomatic (produce no symptoms). Occasionally, a few asymptomatic patients will show small scars in lung x-rays. Symptomatic people often develop fever, chills, dry cough, malaise, sweats, and abdominal pains about three to 14 days after exposure.
