In brief: Delay if possible

A couple should delay trying to conceive (ttc) for at least one year or two if possible.
That delay allows the mom to return to her preconceptional state of health, to breastfeed longer, to spend more time with her first baby. However, if a mom of an infant becomes pregnant sooner, she should enjoy the experience, get sitters and nap, and ask an OB about iron and supplements.
