1 doctor agrees
In brief: Usually about 6 week
Maybe less, most patients are usually well enough to go back to work after 6 weeks.
You will recover faster if you have an lavh, or robot surgery or vaginal hyster. You should ask your doctor if it can be done another , ;less painful way. If he or she says no, you may want to go for a second opinion to make sure the 2nd opinion person agrees. Some doctors can't do all the different types of hyster.

In brief: Several weeks
If possible consider a second opinion.
If in fact a hysterectomy is needed at this time, look to a minimally invasive procedure such as laparoscopic or robotic. The visualization is better, the ability to remove disease is improved, and with smaller, less painful scars you can often ho home on the same day or the next day after surgery. Recovery for open surgery is typically 6 weeks vs 1-2 weeks.
