If pap results come back I have LSIL does it mean I have high risk Hpv or could it be due to just having Hpv?

LSIL from HPV. It is probably a high risk HPV that is causing the changes in the cells of your cervix. Frequently a pap will also report whether there is high or low risk HPV present. In my office, the lab that does the paps automatically checks for HPV on abnormal paps.

Second, the cells are studied for high risk hpv dna to see if there is any risk of future changes that would predict cancer. Read more...

No/Yes it can be,,, This doesn't go away, and can spread if not treated. Your next step should be colposcopy and likely a cone biopsy to remove this. As it is a virus it can be contageous. If you have a high risk hpv, like types 16 and 18, it would be wise to be diligent about getting your pap smear screen every year. Best of luck. Read more...
