7 months of bladder infections. Taken k flex, amoxicillin, penicillin, bactrim, (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) now on Macrobid for 17 days CAT scan x rays ultrasound normal help?

Too many; c a Urolog. At your age, I think that's too many bladder infections. Something underlies these recurrent infections: something that antibiotics alone can't fix. While the CT scan & imaging test show that u (or some1) is concerned, they r the wrong tests. What u need is a cystoscopy by a Urologist (looking @bladder with a scope). If it's neg, a voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG) wd be the type of CT scan to get.

I am currently taken bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) ds for bladder infection. I am having a horrible time swallowing pills. Terrible gag reflex. Almost puked. What can I do?

OK to break. You may crush the tablets and put them in water or a soft food like applesauce or pudding if you cannot swallow them whole. The pills are large and breaking them up has a terrible taste. Next time tell your doctor as there are smaller pills you could use. Good luck. Read more...
Crush the pill. It is a time honored method of taking pills/ tablets, especially big ones by crushing them. You can get a pill crusher at your pharmacy or you can crush the pill/tablet between two spoons of appropriate size. Take a tablespoon and put a thin to medium layer of applesauce/yogurt in the spoon, sprinkle the crushed powder over the applesauce and cover with a second layer of same. Down it goes! :-) Read more...

Kidney infection. It's sounds like you may have a kidney infection (pyelonephritis). ThIs is more serious than a bladder infection since it involves the upper urinary tract. Perhaps your doctosr should consider hospilization and iv antibiotics. Read more...

????????? Are you using all these antibiotics all at once or one after the other. Has any cultures been done to determine what the bug is really sensitive to? That will usually take care of this problem unless you got another infection unrelated to the previous one . hope you feel better. Read more...
