Is mandelic acid effective at treating acne and whiteheads? How effective is it in comparison to benzoyl peroxide?

Mandelic acid/acne. Mandelic acid is a weak acid that may help in acne but in my opinion the medical literature is more favorable to benzoyl peroxide for acne therapy... Best to see a dermatologist in person.

M treating acne from 4 years by using benzoyl peroxide, clindamycin and DOXOL tablets. It will give any side effect in future?

Not usually. Acne treatments such as the regimen you are on have been used for the last 20 years and NO long term adverse effects are commonly seen. Side effects such as "photo-sensitivity" maybe seen when you are on the medications such as doxycycline which is well documented, so be sure to always use sun screen and try to avoid the sun in general when on the meds. Skin bacteria. Benzoyl peroxide kills acne bacteria and makes acne better, but it may not kill other bacteria that cause infection and disease. You need to find out which germ, if any, is causing your skin problem. Salicylic acid peels that skin and is used for thick rough areas, like warts, callouses and rough feet. Read more...

Benzoyl peroxide be Tee tree oil be salicylic acid for acne???

All slightly differ. All tend to dry out acne, but BP acts more like a topical antibiotic. Tea tree oil has some antibacterial properties, and salicylic acid actually deposits the acid in the acne follicles to clear them up. Depending on your type of acne I would still only pick one to try like a BP and then clean your face with either tea tree oil or salicylic acid wash. then see derm if not improving. Read more...
