Urinary tract. Tamsulosin, also known under the name flomax, (tamsulosin) is a drug designed to relax smooth muscle cells of the urinary tract. Its approved use is to improve urination in prostate enlargement (bph). It has been shown to improve urinary symptoms, or ipss score. It is also used to help pass kidney stones by relaxing the ureter. It is also used, at times, as an adjunct in the treatment of chronic prostatitis.
BPH. Helps open prostate. Previously used to lower blood pressure but now only for enlarged prostate.
Interaction checkers warn against use of tamsulosin with imatnib, a cyp3a4 inhibitor. But dasatinib is a cyp3a4 inhibitor. Why no warnings about it?
See answer. Good question. Both drugs are tkis and both are cyp3a4 inhibitors which have the potential to reduce the metabolism of tamsulosin and thereby the potential for an increase in tamsulosin-associated adverse side effects: dizziness, lightheadedness, drowsiness, runny/stuffy nose, or ejaculation problems being the most common. It may be that imitinib is a stronger cyp3a4 inhibitor than dasatinib.
I use flomax (tamsulosin) for bph. Some doctors on your site say to use saw palmetto - some say not to use but to use super beta prostate. Which is best and why?
Effects vary. Everyone is not the same, so one medication may work better for you than the rest. There are really two main types of medications to help with the prostate - one opens the urination channel more and the others primarily help actually shrink the prostate itself (helping flow). All men will have prostate (plumbing-type)troubles if we live long enough.
Medical opinion. In the absence of solid evidence there are a variety of opinions. Feel free to try all three at different times and see what works best for you! You're the only one who can decide which one works best, balancing side effects and symptom relief, since everyone responds differently.
BPH. There is no data on efficacy of saw palmetto or any other herbal medications for prostate hypertrophy. I would not recommend any medication without any data in this era of evidence-based medicine.
Similar action. Saw palmetto is a natural product that actually has a version of the active ingredient in Finasteride (proscar)" a simolar drug to flomax, (tamsulosin) so may work as well. However, the dosing is very different in herbal products and the quality varies. Your physician can help you decide which product is best for you.
No. No activity vs bugs.
No.. Tamsulosin, also known under the name flomax, (tamsulosin) is a drug designed to relax smooth muscle cells of the urinary tract. It acts by blocking receptors on the muscle called alpha-1a adrenergic receptors. Its approved use is to enhance urination in prostate enlargement. It is sometimes used to help pass kidney stones. It does not treat or effect bacterial vaginosis.
Hi I am 56years old and I have prostate problem for ten years in last 6 months PSA my blood increas from 4 to 8.5. I use Tamsulosin Hexal 0.4mg, &Fina?
PSA. Based on the change in your PSA I would be concerned that you need a biopsy of your prostate. At the very least she should be examined by a raunchiest. You may have prostatitis as a cause of the change in your PSA and your symptoms.
Variable. Light-headedness, especially upon arising quickly; retrograde or absent ejaculation; also back pain; cough; decreased sexual ability; diarrhea; dizziness; drowsiness; headache; runny or stuffy nose; sinus inflammation; trouble sleeping; weakness.
