In brief: Usually helps

4000 mg is the usual dose of Pentasa.
The active ingredients in Pentasa is mesalamine. It is usually well-tolerated, and very often helps with inflammatory bowel conditions in the bowel. Lists of the rare possible side effects are easily found online. The important thing is to be sure that your IBD is not worsening after starting the medication. If it is, contact your doctor.
