In brief: Depends

Depends on the dose.
An addict can develop tolerance to high doses of Methadone while someone who is a naive user may react badly to a "small" dose. If you stop breathing from the overdose you have only minutes before your brain is damaged. Getting to an er immediately can be life saving.

In brief: Quite variable

Is this a chronic abuser with high tolerance level - or someone new to using the drug.
How massive is the overdose? What is the person's underlying health like? What symptoms / signs did the person suffer because of the overdose? Not a simple question.
