No. Clinical studies have not shown Lexapro to be effective in panic disorder., although it is effective in generalized anxiety disorder.Antidepressants that work in gad and pd include Paxil ( i prefer Pexeva brand) effexor (venlafaxine). I need a med that helps for social anxiety. A med I can take daily that isnt a benzo cuz im a recovering alcoholic. What med would u recommend? I was thinking luvox (fluvoxamine)? Would that help?

Serotonin reuptake . Most of the serotonin reuptake inhibitors are very helpful for anxiety as well. I have found Lexapro to be very effective.
