Why is there no cure for bipolar disorder?

Lack of knowledge. We know very little about the brain and its associated disorders. So we develop treatments that help with the symptoms.
Remission. There are many disorders for which we do not have cures, such as diabetes. However, Bipolar Disorder can be put into remission, being without symptoms, with a combination of medication and psychotherapy just as diabetes can be put into remission.
Mood stabilizers. Mood stabilizers are used to treat bipolar disorder. Lithium and depakote would be two examples of mood stabilizers but there are others, depending on symptoms, and depending on what works for the patient. Typically, bipolar cannot be cured, as such, only managed, which is a life long struggle, because of ongoing neurochemical imbalance in the brain.
