It's not taboo here! Depending on the culture, just about anything that's not a 'light, breezy, it's just fine' attitude can be 'taboo'. I think it's fear. Humans are easily threatened and don't like having that exposed. So, when we mention troubling feelings, thoughts and behaviors - many get scared and react badly. Now, let's move on. Not too many years. ago cancer was thought to be communicable by many people and there was a stigma associated w/it. Mental illness still has a stigma associated w/it. Like any other personal topic, reflect before you share a lot about yourself and then only w/people you trust (who can still inadvertently hurt you). We need more education about psychological health and if you don't push it on others, you can help. Read more...
