In brief: Consider raw vegan!

I do not normally advocate a raw vegan diet, as it is somewhat extreme & hard to follow, but it might be worth a try based on the exciting work of gabriel cousins md, author of there is a cure for diabetes.
See http://www.Youtube.Com/watch?V=-o6gh6qbpfw if you try this for a month or so and get good results you can probably transition to a less extreme diet over time.

In brief: Vegetarian Diabetic

You don't say if you are a type one or a type two diabetic.
Type two diabetes is usually a lifestyle disease and is most often associated with some degree of obesity. I recommend type two diabetics follow a ketogenic diet, fueling their body more with fats than carbs. You can certainly do this with a vegetarian diet.
