Please help? Is the shingles vaccine a one time shot or must you have one each year to be protected?

NoClinicalTrial Data. Good question but no clinical trial data exists. Merck, who did all the work to develop the vaccine, did the only clinical trial to date which compared incidence of shingles in people who received real vaccine vs. Just a saline placebo injection. Bad shingles in feb. Still have discomfort base of head, left ear. Can i, should i, get a shingles vaccine shot at this time?

Probably, but ask Dr. Since it can recur - you certainly want protection. The only issue would be if your residual discomfort would be a reason to wait. I doubt it, but ask the doctor. Be safe! hope you never need to go through it again. Read more...
