Family Medicine

In brief: Depends on infection

Most UTIs are caused by EColi Bacteria and can be successfully treated with Ciprofloxon or Levaquin.
But other antibiotics from Batrim to furadantin can be effective There is a choice of srating antibiotics untill you get the culture and sensitivity report and if needed change can be made if there is resistance to the antibiotic stated. On the whole Quinolones like cipro (ciprofloxacin) and Levaquin work well
