Benzos aren't a cure. I agree with dr. Ali. Benzodiazapines numb you to your anxiety but they don't address the underlying cause. They can also be very addicting. A selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor would be a class of medication that could help with the underlying neurochemical problems but psychotherapy such as cognitive behavioral therapy would actually start to give you control. So it don't work? Using benzodiazepines as first-line treatment for anything psychiatric is a bad idea, clinazapam as much as any of the others especially if 1 mg a day don't work. Social anxiety. Did you also do therapy? Medications alone will not be sufficient. The combination of medications with cognitive behavioral therapy is the recommended treatment strategy. In regards to antidepressants, you may ask your doctor to try snris like Effexor (venlafaxine) or cymbalta.
