What is under the chin liposuction?

Chin/Upper Neck. Upper neck and chin liposuciton is commonly performed to reduce the appearance of a "double chin" and commonly performed as part of a facelift procedure.
Under the chin lipo. Liposuction can be done if indicated under the chin. Modern liposuction consts of placing tumescent solution in the area to be treated. This solution consists of lactated ringers or normal saline, reduces pain (using lidocaine) and reduces bruising/bleeding (using epinephrine). Cannula then are used to extract the solution and the fat. Compression garments are used to keep a good contour.
Liposuction. Liposuction surgery of the chin involves the use of hollow cannulas and suction devices used to remove adipose tissue of the chin. Indicated for patients at their long-term stable weight, who present with diet and exercise resistant adipose tissue of localized areas with good quality overlying skin. Not substitute for diet and exercise or meant for weight loss.
Chin liposuction. Chin or submental liposuction is a minimally invasive technique to define the jawline by removing excess fat and the appearance of a double chin. It can improve the contour of the cervicomental angle and reduce the appearance of a double chin. Risks include bleeding, infection, nerve injury, irregular contour, scarring, and need for revision.
Chin Lipo. Liposuction under the chin can be effective to remove fatty deposits there. It only removes fat though and is not a replacement for a neck lift.
Liposuction. Under the chin liposuction, like it says, under the chin suction. It can be done withthe usual time honored liposuction , or with smart lipo. Both methods work.

Where's the best place for the incisions for a chin liposuction? I've talked with a few surgeons about getting a chin liposuction. Some said they'd make an incision under my chin. Others said just below and behind my ear lobes. What's the difference? Does

Incision . Incision placement for neck liposuction depends a lot on the surgeon's preference and where the fat is that needs to be removed. In my own practice i always place a small incision under the chin. I will sometimes add access incisions up behind the earlobes as well. Probably what's more important than incision placement is the ultimate results. Review your potential surgeon's before and after photos to make sure you like the results her or she gets. Read more...
The . The most important element that relates to your question is the area of desired interest (site of desired liposuction). If the area is directly under the chin, then the direct avenue is through a small incision under the chin. Fifty percent of all patients have a scar in this region, most of which are attributed to some childhood injury. Incisions near the ears afford a shorted access route for fat that is further back along the neck, but the anterior approach (under the chin) is the most versatile point of entry and only requires one incision. As . As stated above the choice of incision placement depends upon the surgeons preference, areas that need to be addressed, and whether there is the presence of an existing scar. Hopefully you have been thoroughly evaluated by an appropriately trained and experienced surgeon. Things that they will consider, in addition to location of the fat deposits, is the condition of the overlying skin and underlying muscle groups. Many times liposuction alone will not result in an acceptable cosmetic result if there is redundant skin and / or dehisence (separation) of the underlying muscle fibers. These problems will need to be addressed with a surgical procedure where the muscle fibers are tightened and some skin is removed allowing for the creation of a nice tight smooth neck contour.
