I have a friend who was just diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease. What is the difference between regular hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's? Is tx The same

Same thing. Hi. Hashimoto's is overwhelmingly the most common cause of hypothyroidism, followed by surgical thyroidectomy in prevalence. Hashimoto's hypothyroidism is most commonly treated with l-thyroxine, although some people prefer desiccated pig thyroid extract, and other times T3 (liothyronine) is added to l-thyroxine (although certainly not required). Good luck to your friend!
