Just had a hacking cough after choking on water. I had tonsillectomy 4 days ago. Will this increase bleeding risk?

In brief: Stop Coughing

Coughing after tonsillectomy can cause serious bleeding.
Choking on water suggests extreme swelling in the throat. See a doctor about this ASAP as this could be quite serious.

In brief: BreathingAsAnOption

Those tonsils, and what's left of them, have lots of little blood vessels in them, so after surgery(for at least a week, maybe two)they are prone to bleed if bothered (like by rough foods, prolonged heavy coughing, sneezing, vomiting, etc).
But in your case, you had one episode and didn't bleed so the risk going forward is probably the same.Of course, you could just hold your breath for the next week or so
